Preventive Medicine Services

The care partners of Parrish Medical Center’s preventive medicine program  want to keep you healthy and out of the hospital. We do this by offering a variety of wellness services and injury and illness prevention programs, such as health fairs, workshops, clinics, classes and seminars, as well as a full-service fitness and wellness center.

It may sound simple, but exercising, eating right and monitoring your health are the most effective ways to prevent illness and disease. If you adopt healthy habits now, like going to the gym, eating nutritious meals and getting regular blood tests, you will enjoy the benefits for years to come. Think of it as a long-term investment in your health.

You can take advantage of our full range of preventive medicine services to stay on top of your health. Our screenings catch diseases early, boosting your ability to treat them. Our health assessments alert you to your specific health risks, empowering you to prevent disease and maximize your quality of life. With this information, we can help you build a preventive medicine plan.

To see your health plan through, you will want to try our 38,000 square-foot health and fitness facility. It is conveniently located in the heart of North Brevard on a scenic, 10-acre swath of land. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide a serene view of our walking/jogging path, which winds through native trees. You’ll enjoy two heated pools, free weights, cardio equipment, an outdoor basketball court and 80 fitness classes a week. Wellness coaches and personal trainers are at your service, not to mention free Wi-Fi.

Additionally, we offer programs and classes to meet specific medical needs. For example, our Diabetes Education Program provides quality, cost-effective care. You will be in good hands with our expert medical staff, and instruction is offered to all ages, from children to adults with type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes and pre-diabetes.

We offer a four-week class to strengthen your understanding of diabetes and teach valuable survival skills. We host a support group, and offer one-on-one visits with a registered nurse and a registered dietitian for your individual needs. Instruction is available in inpatient and outpatient settings. The program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association.
