Medical Nutritional Therapy

Parrish Medical Center provides Nutrition Counseling (also called Medical Nutrition Therapy or MNT) for medical conditions where a change in food habits is advised for better management of the condition. Counseling is available for, but not limited to, the following conditions:

  • Diabetes
  • Cancer
  • Gastrointestinal disorders
  • Eating problems
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Home tube feeding
  • Pregnancy
  • Kidney disease
  • Weight management

The goal of nutrition care is to promote health and well-being, reduce the risk for disease, prevent complications of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, and help you successfully change bad behaviors to good behaviors. At your first visit, the dietitian will help you make healthier food choices. They will answer your questions about preparing meals that are healthy and delicious. You will be asked about your eating habits, meal times, and food preferences. Follow-up counseling is provided to support you as you change your eating habits.

Nutrition Services are provided by licensed and registered dietitians. Our care partners have many years of experience in nutritional counseling and helping patients make changes to improve their health.
