One of the most common concerns voiced by patients scheduled for cancer treatment is that they will suffer unpleasant side effects from their chemotherapy, radiation, or other therapies. Understandably, fears about nausea and vomiting, hair loss, and fatigue make many cancer patients anxious about treatment.
In recent years, researchers have developed new drugs and techniques to reduce or alleviate the side effects of therapy and to make cancer treatment as easy as possible -- and H. Lee Moffitt has been at the forefront of that research. Researchers there are developing ways to help patients cope with the chronic fatigue that often accompanies cancer and various treatment regimens.
The most common side effects associated with cancer therapy -- and some simple things you can do to help you minimize the impact of these side effects -- are described in this section.
