Physical and Occupational Rehabilitation

Our patients are assisted in their goals for recovery through the efforts of an interdisciplinary team of caring, experienced rehabilitation professionals. Because each person’s needs are unique, treatment is individualized, based on the patient’s physical limitations, abilities and goals for recovery.

What Is Physical and Occupational Rehabilitation?

Whether you suffered an injury while working or playing sports, physical or occupational rehabilitation is essential in helping you recover. In fact, with proper physical therapy and rehabilitation, most people can return to their lives more quickly.

Physical Therapy focuses on restoring movement, strength and functional abilities. They also help manage pain that results from aging, illness or an injury, such as a torn ligament in the knee, to maximize a person’s quality of life. A physical therapist will develop a personalized plan and work with the individual to modify it as needed.

Occupational Therapy can help patients become more independent by teaching them new ways to perform life tasks such as making breakfast, dressing or simply brushing their hair. Occupational therapists also teach patients how to protect their muscles and joints and increase their strength and endurance. When necessary, they provide training in the use of adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, reach extenders and long-handled shoehorns.

Lymphedema Therapy anyone with lymphedema can benefit from our edema reduction program even if the swelling has occurred for 12 or more years!  Our Lymphedema Therapy program focuses on providing comprehensive rehabilitation services for our patients with lymphedema of either upper or lower extremities. This specialized intervention is performed by our certified Lymphedema therapists, who will work at improving the overall quality of life for patients diagnosed with lymphedema.

Speech-Language Therapy
Speech-language pathologists evaluate and treat patients for hearing, language, communication and swallowing disorders. The focus of speech therapy is improving speech-language expression, comprehension, oral motor skills for accurate speech production and strategies for safe eating.
