Hospitalist Physician Program

The Hospitalist team at Parrish Medical Center is an employed group of physicians that serve the patients as primary care physicians during their hospital stay.

While you are a patient at PMC, a Hospitalist physician and a physician assistant or nurse practitioner will care for you. Hospitalists are doctors who specialize in providing care while you are in the hospital and are available 24 hours a day.

Your Hospitalist team regularly discusses your care with your primary care provider while you are in the hospital and after you are discharged. They work together to ensure that the patient is given the best possible care.  After you leave the hospital, your primary care provider will see you. If you do not have a primary care provider, we will refer you to one in the community for follow-up care.

There are currently eight Hospitalists on the medical staff at PMC. Hospitalist programs are relatively new to the health care industry, but are being very well received simply because the patient has immediate and around the clock access to a physician specialist in Hospital Medicine during their hospitalization.
