Spiritual Care
Spiritual care for patients and families is an integral part of the healing process and comprehensive health care. Parrish Medical Center provides 24-hour spiritual and faith support to patients and families. Our Director of Pastoral Care, Reverend Jerald Smith, D. Min., is Board Certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains. Should you or your family desire spiritual support during your hospital stay, Chaplain Smith may be reached at extension 3526. If you need help contacting someone from your faith community, you may call the Chaplain, or ask your nurse for assistance.
The Meditation Room/Chapel is located on the second floor near the top of the staircase.
Ethical Concerns
There are times when questions and options about medical care and treatment pose dilemmas for patients, families, physicians and staff. Parrish Medical Center's Ethics Committee--a multi-disciplinary group of physicians, clergy, hospital staff and community members--is available for consultation. If you would like to arrange for a meeting please contact the Customer Service Coordinator at 268-6685.
Additional Support
At Parrish Medical Center we understand the need for you and your family to be informed. It is important that you not only know your rights as a patient but also the various services we provide. If you are dealing with difficult decisions you may need spiritual or ethical support. Particularly difficult are the decisions of organ, tissue and blood donations. Juan Gonzalez, Patient Service Coordinator is available to answer your questions and help with these decisions. He can be reached at 268-6685, or email.
