JPMF Announces Grants Chairman and Awards Community Grant

The Jess Parrish Medical Foundation (JPMF) announced the appointment of Jerry W. Allender, Titusville attorney, as chairman of the foundation’s community grants committee. Allender, who has served on the JPMF Board of Directors since 1993 and chairman from 2006 to 2008, is serving a second year as chairman of this committee.  Also serving on the committee are: Hugh Brown, Santi Bulnes, Kathy Dunn, David Ferguson, Robert Jordan, Jr., J.J. Parrish III, Patricia Parrish, Howard Rinker, D.D.S., and Jason Snodgrass.

The JPMF community grants committee provides small grants totaling $50,000 or more each year to not-for-profit organizations that offer health and wellness related services to North Brevard residents.  The foundation recently awarded a $2,000 grant to the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation’s Black Women’s Roundtable, which supported the group’s National Empowerment Tour Kick-Off held on February 5, 2011. The event brought more than 150 women together representing diverse views and interests within the black community and focused on motivating women to engage in being healthy, wealthy and wise to improve and advance the community they live in.

“As a non-profit organization raising funds to promote the health and wellness of North Brevard, it is with great pleasure that we are able to award grant funds to small organizations with a shared passion for helping our community,” said Allender.

Organizations may apply for grant funds four times per year. The second quarter grant applications are due March 7, 2011. An application may be obtained by contacting JPMF at 321-269-4066.
