“All About You” Raises $4,600 for Breast Health Program

The fifth annual “All About You” event, held at La Cita Country Club on October 8, 2011, was attended by more than 200 women, who enjoyed a day of festivities especially for women. The day included food, holiday shopping, a 50/50 raffle and a chance to bid on high-end gift baskets.

Event Chair Linda Fliss and Katherine Musick, of La Cita Country Club, presented a check for $4,617 to Marsha Richardson, Parrish Medical Center (PMC) oncology program coordinator and breast health navigator, and Richard Boggs, chairman of the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation board of directors. Proceeds will benefit the PMC Breast Health Program by providing mammograms to approximately 50 uninsured or underinsured women.

According to the American Cancer Society, 230,480 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Numerous studies have shown that early detection saves lives and increases treatment options.

“Early detection of breast cancer with screening mammography means that treatment can be started earlier in the course of the disease, possibly before it has spread”, said Marsha Richardson. In 2009, the “All About You” event provided financial assistance to 48 women and those who were diagnosed with breast cancer contribute their early stage diagnosis and good prognosis to receiving the assistance they needed.

“As a three time breast cancer survivor,” said Linda Fliss, “I want to make sure that women do their regular self examinations and have their screening mammograms. Through our efforts and the annual "All About You" events, I know we have helped save lives.”

“We are so thankful to Linda for once again choosing the PMC program to receive these funds,” said Richard Boggs.
