June Sleep Support Group (A.W.A.K.E.)

A.W.A.K.E. — Alert, Well And Keeping Energetic; Learn How to Help Yourself

Do you suffer from sleep problems or have a family member or friend who suffers from it? If so, you are encouraged to attend this support group meeting on Monday, June 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St. John, 5005 Port St. John Parkway (east of the I-95 Port St. John exit). The meetings are held in the Conference Center by the south entrance (near the sleep lab). This is a free community service. Please call 321-268-6408 to register.

The June 6 meeting will include the following:
·         Learn about restless legs syndrome (RLS): Are you bothered by an almost irresistible urge to move your legs when you lie down or relax? If so, you may have a disorder known as restless legs syndrome (RLS). If you are one of the millions of people who suffer from restless legs or struggle to have your symptoms taken seriously, know this: RLS is real and can be treated. In recent years, experts have discovered better ways to manage and relieve symptoms. Medical treatment, healthy lifestyle changes, and even simple stretches and home remedies can help you quiet your restless legs and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. Presented by Dr. Ricardo Rivera-Morales, board-certified Sleep Specialist
·         Join us for a free CPAP Tune-up: Pressure and equipment checks. Do you have an old, noisy machine? Do you feel your pressure has changed or isn’t adequate? Join us for a free “CPAP tune-up” (be sure to bring your machine and supplies). Presented by Kristina St. Peter-Weaver, RPSGT
·         At every A.W.A.K.E. Support Group meeting you’ll have the opportunity to see newer model CPAP machines and masks and receive a free mask fitting if you’d like.
