Project HUNGER

Project HungerSummer is a critical time for food pantries in our community—schools are out, free and reduced lunch programs do not operate and children are at a higher risk of going hungry. Pantries are not able to meet the demand for increased assistance during this season. Going hungry doesn’t mean just missing a meal.

Going hungry means going to bed hungry, waking up hungry and not having enough to eat during the day so the cycle continues.

Project HUNGER is a grassroots effort of concerned civic leaders mobilized last year to fill food pantry shelves in Brevard. As our community continues to struggle with the economic climate, Project HUNGER is once again reaching out asking for help in easing the burden faced by your friends and neighbors. United Way of Brevard in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, local Sharing Centers and Community Food Pantries will ensure 100% of funds raised will be used to fill shelves during the summer months.
