If you had a questionable breast diagnosis, wouldn’t you want
to go to the highest certified breast imaging center in the area?
In Brevard County, you don’t need to look any further than
Parrish Medical Center (PMC).
PMC's mammography program has earned accreditation
from the American College of Radiology (ACR). But it didn’t
stop there. Its other imaging services—stereotactic breast
biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast
biopsy—all have been fully accredited as well.
Because they’ve all been accredited, PMC now is designated
as a breast imaging center of excellence, which is awarded by
ACR. The award is presented only to breast imaging centers that
have demonstrated excellence by earning ACR accreditation in
all of the college’s voluntary breast imaging accreditation programs
and components, in addition to the mandatory
mammography accreditation program.
Only 23 hospitals, clinics or health
centers in Florida have been designated
a breast imaging center of excellence.
Accreditation is determined through stringent
peer-review evaluations by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
PMC achieved high practice standards in all areas, including
image quality, personnel qualifications, equipment, quality control
and quality-assurance programs.
Patients can be assured of excellent care at PMC, which
voluntarily went through ACR’s rigorous review process to
make sure it met nationally accepted standards. This process
also certifies that PMC care partners, through education and
certification, are well-qualified to perform and interpret medical
images and administer radiation therapy treatments. And
it means PMC has the right equipment for a patient’s test or
treatment, and quality assurance and safety guidelines always
are met or exceeded.
The American College of Radiology, headquartered in Reston,
Va., is a national organization serving more than 32,000
diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation
oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians

focusing on the practice of medical imaging
and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery
of comprehensive healthcare services.
